It is with great excitement that the EKFC announces the appointment of Tom Hunter as it’s under 18’s coach for the season of 2012. Tom who is the current runner for the Collingwood football club comes back to East Keilor with an abundance of knowledge and skill of the modern game.
Not only will Tom coach our under 18’s team for 2012 but he will also set training sessions for our under 16 side and have extensive involvement with them to prepare them for the transition into under 18/senior football.
Tom Played for the Cougars at junior level and was drafted by the Calder Cannons in 2008. Having played recently in the main avenue to the AFL (TAC CUP) Tom knows what it takes to be successful and will share this knowledge with all players.
Tom played in a winning grand final side with the Calder Cannons in 2009 and was drafted by the Collingwood Football Club later that year. Tom has been under the tuition of Michael Malthouse, Nathan Buckley and other greats from AFL level. It doesn’t come much better than that.
Alongside Tom we are also extremely exited to have Ashley Arrowsmith assist with preseason preparation and training for the under 16’s. As per Toms career Ashley also played for the Cougars at junior level before being drafted by the Calder Cannons.
Ashley played in the winning grand final in 2007 with the Calder Cannons and was awarded best on ground in that game. Ashley was then drafted by West Coast in 2007 and played under the coaching of John Worsfold. Ashley currently plays for the Northern Bullants in the VFL and like Tom brings with him a huge amount of knowledge and skill of the modern game.
Preseason training for the under 18’s and under 16’s starts Thursday Nov 3rd at 6pm at the football club. Past, current and new players all invited. For further information contact TOM on 0431434421 or GAVAN WIGNALL on 0418306000.

The club is seeking nominations for a range of executive positions in 2012. They include President, Senior Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary as well as general committee members.
This is an opportunity to get involved wtih your club and have some input in to the direction it takes in the coming years. If we can not fill these positions then the club will struggle to operate effectively in 2012. If you care about then future of the EKFC then I would encourage you to attend and nominated for one of the positions.

A bitter sweet day for the juniors with one premiership for the U/12’s and a runners up for the U/16’s.
The 12’s were unrelenting in their efforts and some of this group of have now played in three consecutive flags and not played in a losing game for almost three seasons. Well done to Rob and all his team on a mighty effort.
The 16’s were brave but just couldn’t go with Glenroy all day. Many of these boys have now completed their junior football career and graduate to the senior part of the club next season with the U/18’s. Having spent a lot of time with them, they are a great group of guys and we wish them all the best .
Congratulations to all junior Cougars on another great season and all the coaches and committee are very proud of your efforts.
Don’t forget presentation day on Sat Sep 3rd as we round off season 2011.

Congratulations to the U/10’s and coach Dean Pelligrino on making the Preliminary final . Unfortunately the boys season has come to end and whilst they were gallant couldn’t get over the top of Westmeadows. Well done to all connected with this team.
The U/16’s were beaten two weeks ago in the Qualifying final by Northern Saints by over 10 goals and played them again in the Preliminary final.
The boys were unbelievable and in a hard fought game the mighty Cougars overcome a number of obstacles to record a 10 point win. The last quarter was extremely exciting and the result wasn’t sealed until the last 60 seconds. It was one of the great wins in our clubs proud history.
This week both the 12’s and 16’s take on Glenroy in the Grand Final at Jacana.
Come along and support the lads as we try and bring some more premierships to Overland Reserve!

The EKFC family lost a loyal member last week with the passing of Don Aldridge. Our condolence goes out to Don’s family.
Don was always seen up at the club during the week and on match days to watch his favorite club go into battle each week.
The Funeral Service for Mr Donald Willis Aldridge will be held in the Chapel of Repose, Altona Memorial Park on THURSDAY (Aug. 18) commencing at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to Cancer Council Victoria would be appreciated.
The club is at loss and Don will forever be in our memories.
